Why indiko?

Indiko is a Mayan word that refers to the color blue, a natural dye used by the indigenous artisans in the highlands of Guatemala; it is obtained from pine wood ashes left after cooking their meals. To obtain the color they leave the ashes in a clay pot with water during the night. How dark the color gets depends on the amount of ashes they use, that way they get the different shades of blue.
